The presentation development methodology is out of date and really doesn’t work anymore.  We a need a fresh approach for Talent Presentation and Career growth

We are all too technique driven when it comes to measuring performance.

We go through miles of video and then pontificate, rightfully or wrongfully.  Everyone gets in on this, from your friends, bosses, family, to people like me.

New approaches for Presentation Development are needed now.

Quick Hits are daily performance evaluations.  Quick Hits provides continuing,

daily performance coaching, based on your most recent live Critique session.

2 princelingsQuick Hits removes the detached, antiseptic, approach to analyzing presentations.

We are too clinical about what drives anyone’s performance.  Traditional coaching is too infrequent and thus, wide open for Performance Regression.

You can’t develop presentations being a performance bureaucrat, anymore.

We work and live in a creative and dare I say emotional business.  Talent have to be confident in themselves and their presentations. It’s personal, it is emotional and thus, affects careers.

Doing things the old way is ineffective. We forget what we talked about.  Then, we go over it all again.  Breaking through and growing/refining performances comes from frequent communication, based on the most recent critique.

news.me_We have changed as a culture.  Smartphone, computers etc. have totally changed how we communicate.

We text and email all the time.  My clients and I have unknowingly embraced this evolving electronic culture.  We are pretty chatty, in the electronic sense.

Quick Hits, are ongoing micro critiques, discussions, questions, back and forth via emails.

I usually have at least two or three electronic interactions a day per client and this is what’s causing the performance breakthroughs.

Don’t get me wrong, frequent presentation critiques still need to be done, in person.  But, it’s the high level of electronic communication between Live sessions, which keep performance progress moving.

2These Live Critique based, Quick Hits are email dialogues which can drive presentation development much faster.

Clients email from work, home, vacations…you name it.  We can email each other about whatever…whenever.  No rules and no schedules.

Whenever strikes me or a Client, something is quickly emailed and answered, so the thought isn’t lost.  This way of doing business also removes the antiseptic formalities in professional relationships.  All the messages are totally bottom line oriented.

lamp bulb tulips isolated on white with clipping pathWe discuss all kinds of things via Quick Hits.  The business, what’s going on in the industry, ideas and share relevant news articles.  We talk about anything and everything, but no one is long winded.  Everything is short and to the point.

A side bonus is we also get to know each other better and so, we stop being clinically professional.  The more I understand how they think, the more useful I am to their career growth and performance development.

How people feel drives how well they do things.  Quick Hits resolve immediate doubts, frustrations and discoveries are made that improve Client presentations.  One example of this, was when a Client had a particularly great day.

Education concept: target and Case Study on wall backgroundBefore I could email her about her breakthrough work, she had sent me an email saying that she was too busy to think on the air, worrying her work had suffered.  I thought, That’s it!  She’s thinking and doing.  This isn’t working right because she taking time to think as she does her reads.

We quickly had a conversation about her bearing down more and picking up her pace.  And voilĂ !  It came together… authority, confidence and credibility immediately went into to her presentation.

I have never told anyone to go fast or bear down on their delivery.  You never know what might work.  Now, we have a Buzz Word for this…Pace.  Everything goes wonderfully if Pace in in her presentation equation.  If not, we then know why.

The presentation discovery I’m describing, was borne from a number of Quick Hits, back and forth for days, as we tried to get the right presentation components working together.  We tried all kinds of things, until we isolated this small problem

fh_twwNothing had worked very well until she emailed saying she had been too busy to think about what she was doing on air.  Working to help her stay that way, from now on.  Go figure.  Who cares?  It works.

startup-yin-and-yang-ideas-and-execution-hiEveryone is different.  No two people are alike.  This is why the formula approach to presentation development is flawed and wrong. Just have to find the right key to help Talent unblock their performance strengths.

This new communication style does exactly that and is a total spinoff of our electronic communication culture.  How many texts do you send a day????

Also, my clients and I use all kinds of Buzz Words, born from using Quick Hits.  We seem to use new, evolving, performance driven slang.  This is a direct result of frequent Quick Hits communicating.

BusinessTexting_1These ongoing Quick Hits identifies about anything interfering with performance, depending on the individual.  Why?  Because it’s simple and continuous.  Sort of texting for grownups.

It’s one thing to have a long session, but it’s hard to remember everything discussed.  Quick Hits keeps the conversation alive, thus moving performance progress along faster.

Quick Hits is a highly effective Career and Presentation Development Service Tool.

1497551_10151814208018837_159596637_[2]I started working with Talent when I was CBS Television Stations Chief News Consultant years ago.  I enjoyed that much more than doing budgets, branding news products or scouting for personnel.

We have a good scorecard.  I work alongside my Clients, getting them ready to move up and then shop them for new jobs.  I can also get the major companies to look at their demos.

Some have made exceptional jumps.  One went from Market 70 something (Borderline starter station) to NBC Weather+ in New York, before she was 25.  From there, she later went to one of NBC's Owned Stations in a Top Ten Market, by age 27.  She worked very hard and deserves all her successes.

Another went from Yuma (Serious starter station) to New Orleans, stopping for a while in Arkansas.
