No Reason to Suffocate Your Career

BREATHLESS ON TV?
GET RID OF LONG WINDED, RUN ON,
BREATHLESS SENTENCES!

Premise one for a top ten or network is that your reporting and anchoring should be interchangeable, like ABC's Jeff Murri. All these guys can run to Peru and same day anchor World News.

So, try shorter sentences for both disciplines, as you go forward. Shorter sentences help you with content presentation clarity and also with breathing. They help prevent run on, breathless sentences or stretching your words. Apply it to anchor reads. More control and easy.

This approach is easier and presents confidence, also allowing you to put demonstrative empathy into what you are talking about. The industry is cluttered with same old same old presentation style. To stand out, you have to present yourself normally and with credibility. Using shorter sentences will help and you can still be yourself, which after all, is your signature.

Here is a very simple effective method for pulling it all together: Use your intellect/brain to research/prepare for a story. Then, use your natural abilities on the air...no second guessing. Just let you…your soul run with it on air. It does work for most people.

Hope this helps.
